Peanut, also known as the groundnut, goober, or monkey nut, and taxonomically classified as Arachis hypogaea, is a legume crop grown mainly for its edible seeds. They are rich in protein, magnesium and healthy oils. Studies show that peanuts are useful for weight loss and are linked to a reduced risk of heart disease. The fiber in peanuts also helps lower blood sugar levels. Groundnuts have been largely used in Indian cuisine. They are used to make chutneys, curries, dry roasted for snacking, added to seasoning when making different rices, etc.
