Nutmace (25 GM)
Nutmace is the lacy aril, which is red, removed by hand from the outer shell of the nutmeg and then dried, becoming a yellowish-brown spice. Nature's flavor is described as a combination of cinnamon and pepper and a more pungent version of nutmeg. Nutmace is good in treating diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach spasms and pain, and intestinal gas. It is also taken for treating cancer, kidney disease, increasing menstrual flow and as a hallucinogen. While nutmace can be used in sweet dishes similar to nutmeg, this spice really shines in savory dishes. It's often used in spice blends for flavoring meat dishes, stews, curries, savory sauces and homemade pickles.
