Urad Dal (500 GM)

Vigna mungo, the black gram, urad bean, minapa pappu or uddina bele is a bean grown in the Indian subcontinent. It is a rich source of protein, vitamin B6, thiamine, pantothenic acid, riboflavin and niacin. It is also has potassium, which helps negate the influence of sodium on the blood pressure. Black gram also supplies substantial amounts of iron, calcium, magnesium, copper, zinc and phosphorus. Consumption of urad dal is known to improve digestion, protect the heart, boost energy, bone health and strengthen the nervous system. Traditionally, it is considered a great ingredient used for preparing meals for pregnant and lactating women. Urad dal is commonly used to make idli, dosa, dal makhani and sweets like laddus and adadiya ladwa. It is also used in preparing premixes for feeding infants and thalipeeth.
